Everything about this place was perfect! The views outside the front room were great to wake up to and a great location if your staying on the North side of Kauai. The place was super clean and stocked with everything we needed. Jeff responded immediately to a small leak issue and check in and out was a breeze. Communication is choosing this place was quick and easy and our family greatly enjoyed our stay. We will certainly look out for another opportunity to stay the next time we visit. Thanks!
By far the best family vacation I’ve ever had in a location that doesn’t get any better. Ali’i Kai, Princeville Kauai. Unit 13B was immaculate and well equipped for our family of three. Every room was fantastic. We will miss the the kitchen and showers. The close proximity to the pool and BBq’s was really convenient. More importantly, the ocean view from the guest bedroom and living room were breathtaking. I wouldn’t go anywhere else in Princeville but here. Also, if you’re lucky enough, the Nene birds will visit you every morning to say hello. We can’t wait to go back!
Very nice location and property. Pool access close and BBQ's worked great (fresh tuna caught while on the island). Plenty of parking and great place for a walk in the mornings. Close to Queen's Bath. Unfortunately visited Island when Hurricane Lane was also visiting, made for a few excursions being cancelled. Met Jeff the owner while there, though we had no issues he did help in answering questions about the hurricane and what to expect. Helped us place our minds at ease. My only recommendation would be new knives for the kitchen.
Beautiful property and very cozy place. It definitely felt more like a home than a condo! It’s a great location to go to places like Queens bath and Turtle Cove. Also, super close to Hanalei, which has great restaurants like The Dolphin, Kalypsos and The Bread Company!!
I certainly would recommend this suite to anyone who wants to stay in this area. The owner Jeff was pleasant and quickly resolved come any issues we had. We definitely would come back to Princeville and stay here again. It was a great experience
We thoroughly enjoyed outlet stay at this place in Princeville. The house was well equipped with all the amenities needed for a holiday getaway, and also had been well thought through in terms of enabling you to keep it clean (it’s hard not to bring half of the trek or the beach home with you in this part of Hawaii!). Would highly recommend the place and would definitely come back. Thanks 👍
Just spent two weeks at this condo with my boyfriend and another couple. The condo was cozy and a great home base during our Kauai adventure. Close to Queen's Bath, nice hikes, and some great beaches. Grocery store close by, and a quick drive to Hanalei or Kilauea for more shoping and food options. We cooked a lot at the condo since it was well equipped, but could have certainly used a knife sharpener or new knives :) Loved spending evenings at the pool and hot tub. Would definitely stay here again.
We have been vacationing in princeville for several years and are familiar with Alii Kai 1. We were delighted to now stay in Alii Kai 2. This particular unit and building are the best, in my opinion, because of the ocean view. I loved the lower level because of my 2 young children (ages 2 and 8 months). Unit was clean and the owners were lovely to communicate with. The cable tv and Netflix (bedroom) did not work, but I heard cable connections are notoriously problematic on the island. We just opted to not watch tv for the entirety of our stay. We loved the unit and location.
We stayed at this rental in January 2017, and it was a great location to get to hiking trails and beaches on the north side of the island. The condo was clean, spacious, and very nicely updated. The kitchen was stocked with very helpful items such as condiments, spices, and tupperware containers for storing bought food in the fridge or taking a sandwich and fruit to the beach. The beds were very comfortable and bathrooms very clean. The only real downside was the cats: we were expecting the chickens to be greeting us outside the condo, but were not expecting the 4-5 cats that were at the patio door much of our stay -- other guests presuming must have been feeding them, as they did not want to leave our patio area. Two of us are highly allegeric, so we were not able to sit out on the patio and enjoy the views.
First the cons. This is NOT on a bluff overlooking the ocean. You get a distant glimpse of the ocean between two buildings across the street. You must walk about 500 feet, around the other condos in the complex, to get to the bluff. But it is worth it! No A/C was not an issue. We stayed 10 days and had only one night where we would have used it if it had been available. The humidity in the afternoons was not a problem because we were usually away doing "tourist stuff". As for "pros", the condo was very clean and spacious. Sheets and towels were all new. The washer dryer was used every day, and were new. The appliances are all new and the recent renovation shows well, especially since we could compare this condo to two other Alii Kai condos where our friends stayed that were unrenovated, very old looking and dated. The fans all worked well, and we even had to turn them off the last few nights. Being a downstairs unit, the access to the lawn out the patio door was very nice, especially for feeding the chickens over a cup of coffee in the mornings. The noise from the upstairs unit was noticeable, but acceptable as we knew we would be faced with this ahead of time. The community pool, hot tub and barbecue actually were much nicer than we expected. The hot tub was huge, and we had to share it only once. The entire area around the condos and the pool area were landscaped immaculately, and every day we saw flowering plants we had missed the day before. The property was truly gorgeous. This was our first trip to Kauai. Getting around the island in our rental car was not a problem, but parking at ANY tourist site was a hassle. Plan on taking your time and putting up with it everywhere you go. Kauai simply does not provide adequate parking at beach access points, and land costs are probably the culprit for businesses not being able to provide ample parking. Our secret discovery was getting a kayak in Hanalei and paddling down the Hanalei River to Hanalei Beach for the day. No one told us this was possible, and we ended up doing it our last day by accident. If we had known, we'd have done it a couple more times for sure. The reason: you totally miss all the hassle (chaos, actually) of trying to park anywhere near Hanalei Bay/Beach. We'd definitely stay in the condo again: clean, spacious, convenient and frankly, a bargain. Better than we expected!
This unit was just PERFECT for our stay in Kauai. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. The bedrooms were roomy and the beds were very comfortable. There is no air-conditioning, but there are overhead fans as well as standing fans which kept us very comfortable during our stay. We enjoyed sitting right outside on the back patio and enjoying the beauty of the property. Jeff and Shana were always available and very responsive to the couple of requests that we did have. The best part is the close proximity to the swimming pool/barbecue/jacuzzi area, which is where we spent a lot of our time. Thanks again for a wonderful stay.
Our family very much enjoyed staying at the property. The unit was very well stocked with everything you would need for a family vacation (including board games, puzzles and toys). Perfect size unit for a family of 4. The property was very close to the Makai golf course, close to the St. Regis and easy access to a bunch of beaches (you need to drive though). All in all, wonderful property with a very helpful property manager.
I liked the finishing touches including granite kitchen counters, tile floors and comfortable couches. It was great that the condo had spices and a good selection of dishes. There is no TV in the guest room and the master room just had Netflix and you need an account to watch. There is an ocean view outside the condo. These is a nice pool too!
The condo was perfect for our four days / nights exploring the north shore. The unit was very clean and well-equipped, with everything we needed in the kitchen for cooking our dinners, including good knives, Tupperware, etc. The property was quiet and peaceful and we enjoyed having drinks and meals on the small back patio. The bed was very large and comfortable with what seemed like quality linens and mattress. The location was perfect for us as we ventured out to nearby hikes each day. I'd definitely recommend this condo and would stay here again.
Lovely place, comfortable beds, impressive remodels, nice decor. Convenient location that allows for driving access to beaches 5-10 minutes away. Only downside was floor noise from upstairs neighbors that impacted sleeping, though we recognized this as a 'downstairs' unit upon booking. Affordable as well, and the description and photos matched reality.
My experience overall at the Alii Kai was great. It was very affordable between my friend and I. The location in Princeville was perfect, as it was a very short drive to Hanalei and Kiluea. The setting was beautiful near the cliffs overlooking the water. The unit was pristine clean and had all the amenities. And management was available immediately by phone and took care of anything I needed.
I stayed at a condo unit at the Alii Kai in Princeville and it was great all around. The unit was pristine clean, quiet and had all the amenities. The manager was helpful in answering any questions we had during our stay. I would definitely stay there again if I return to Kauai.
My family of 5 (3 children, two 9 year olds and a 12 year old) stayed for a week. We had a blast! The condo was totally stocked and renovated with all modern amenities. Considering we were there in August, the condo was cool enough due to the location and the crosswinds. The condo was located close to the pool which was great for the kids to run off while the adults had quiet time. There are two grills by the pool with a nice covered area for a family BBQ. The property managers where readily available for questions and brought us laundry detergent when we were out, saving us a trip to the store. They were also extremely helpful and knowledgable of secret local beaches, restaurants and fun activities around the island. They can help book excursions as well! All in all, we had a wonderful vacation and had the support of management to help...almost felt like we were in a hotel!
This property really spoiled us. Very clean and updated, with a washer and dryer and all the supplies you might need. We enjoyed the lanai as well as the chickens, geese and Hawaiian cardinals as well as the view. Jeff and Shana were very easy to work with and in fact Shana acted as our concierge and booked several outings for us. Kauai was fabulous. I wish we could have spent more time in this great property!
This was a newly renovated unit, had all the comforts of home, the floors were perfect and made for easy cleaning! The beds were very comfortable, the only draw back were the pillows, they gave us a stiff neck. The location was great, we did have a partial ocean view. Jeff the maintenance manager was always available if needed. It would have been nice if they had beach chairs and a collapsible cooler for the pool or beach. Also there was no pool key, but thankfully my son was able to stick his hand through to open the pool gate. The kitchen was amazing and has everything you could think of, even birthday candles. Could use an additional tv in the guest room and another cable box in the master bedroom(only NetFlix) available.
Our stay at Alii Kai was nothing short of wonderful. It was beautifully remodeled and the pool and hot tub were lovely and clean. The BBQ was used frequently! It was our first visit to Kauai and so the chickens were a unique treat and the whole island exceeded our expectations. This location was perfect for our trips around the island. Beaches, sightseeing and golf were all great, but the best thing was how wonderful the people are.
