Although the place was nicely located, very well kept, sleeping was a little problematic with no A/C. The kitchen and living room area was very nice and had a great open area so we could get a nice cross breeze in the unit. The bedrooms however were not able to get a cross breeze and a little too warm for sleeping. The ceiling fans just were not cutting it. We were able to get a floor fan to help out, but I would choose a cooler time to stay next time we visit Kauai. The sunsets were quite beautiful and the water was close by. Plenty of beaches within minutes of our location and it was a very beautiful area. This was my favorite island of the 4 we visited. The northern part of the island was very green and sometimes rainy but the surroundings were awesome. The southern side of the island and usually hot and sunny, however the water was much rougher and not well suited for snorkeling or swimming. Even our scheduled dive was cancelled due to high winds and rough water.
For the price, this place was very impressive. Clean, tons of amenities and even extras. Snorkel gear, beach chairs, umbrellas, cooler, etc...really only have two things that could be improved, but for this price point I would not expect that at all...if you require temperature below 80, know this condo, like many many in the Hawaiian islands, does not have AC. The kitchen cabinets and countertops were dated, but well maintained and very clean. Again, at this price point I was beyond impressed with the condo and the entire facility and adjacent area. Highly recommend Ali'i Kai, unit 9G. It's a beautiful place at a great price. The pictures of the interior were spot on - what you see is what you get. The exterior photos really didn't do the scenery justice. Reality was even better than the pictures. My only regret is that I have to go home. Mahalo nui loa for an outstanding stay!!!
The condo is in a great location within Princeville. and if you are a walker a 25 minute walk to a grocery store, several restaurants, and various other businesses within a "marketplace"( 5 min drive). The unit itself is spacious, with a small, somewhat private lanai, thanks to a beautiful avocado tree which shields your view from the neighboring cluster of condos. The kitchen is set up for basic cooking and includes a dishwasher. The WiFi made streaming challenging at times. We left the door open on the cabinet it was in as it seemed to get hot. If we unplugged it for a minute it seemed to work better after. Washer and dryer in the unit is a plus! There is also a nice pool area and hot tub. We would stay here again.
A note to say Thank You to Shanna and Jeff, owners, and Kauai. The stay was everything we hoped for...great location (short walk on the property to sit and watch for whales), close proximity to a couple of restaurants in Princeville, and a short drive to Hanalei. This was my first experience renting via VRBO (although I own one that gets rented via VRBO through a property management company) and it was better than hoped for. Details were managed well, my questions were answered within an hour or less, and our communications with the owners were friendly and included a great suggestion for a local hike. Mahalo.
We were originally looking into staying down by Hanalei beach, but ended up in this wonderful condo.Modern, spacious, comfy... , has everything one needs! And its only 10 minutes from Hanalei and very close to Anini Beacj Park!
My husband, our 14 month old son and I all stayed in this condo for a week (July 20-27) and loved every minute of it! The condo was well equipped with anything that you could need to get your vacation off to the right start. We really enjoyed one of the shallow pools that was perfect for our son to play in the water. The owners are extremely responsive and will go out of their way to make your stay easy, one example is the day before arriving, I realized we needed a crib or pack and play. I emailed them for the request and within the hour they advised they would make sure to have something there for us. Sure enough, on arrival we had a pack and play waiting for our son. The washer and dryer in the unit were great for us as we didn't want to overpack for the trip. Thank you so much for your hospitality!
Owner Response
Aloha Neva, we are delighted you and your family had a most enjoyable stay. We thank you and welcome your return..! With gratitude, Shana & Jeff
We loved this location! We found the north shore of Kauai to be perfect! A short drive to many great beaches, restaurants and excursions. Make sure to check out the delicious ice cream shop in the Princeville Center (Lapperts). The rental had everything we needed; kitchen supplies, towels, washer/dryer and more. The only thing we didn't have that was a "need", was coffee to make on our first morning. It wasn't a problem to get a bag though!
With gorgeous mountain views and the sounds of surf in the near distance, this spacious two bedroom was just what we needed as a home base for exploring the north shore, Princeville, and Hanalei.
From the moment we arrived until the day we left this property gave us everything we needed! We stayed at this condo for just under two weeks so cooked quite a bit. We had knives, cutting boards, a variety of pan/pot sizes and even cling wrap and tupperware to store it after. It was clean, comfortable and close to groceries/liquor ;) Of course we went into the hot tub almost every night which was less than a two minute walk. That's also where the BBQ was so it was a great place to meet other people in the area. It was pretty easy to find and we were able to get everywhere we needed to with no problems. We liked how it was out of the "tourist-y" places and surrounded by lush, beautiful scenery. It was literally the perfect escape! If you're looking for somewhere that's clean, quiet yet close to amenities this is it. Thank you guys for such wonderful accommodations!!
Almost everything and everyone was fantastic. My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon and really enjoyed Kauai from this beautiful little condo. Everuthing was clean and the place was much roomier than expected 2 keys were provided and we were not bothered during our stay. We had access to the pool and hot tub from 9am to 9pm and they were also clean and well maintained. We stayed everynight on the north shore in this place and were located in a fantastic place to visit the myriad of beached on the north shore. There were one 2 cons (and one of them was completely out of control of the owners). The first one was the mattress. Im 22 my wife is 21 we dont have any bck problems but by the 3rd day on this mattress our backs were sore. Now in the grand scope of things - its a small thing. I only mention this incase someone WITH back problems already decides to go; that would be miserable and you may want to look elsewhere. The second thing again was really out of control for the owners and its our own personal preference but after 5 days of visiting pretty much every beach on the north shore we were very much beached out (yes it can happen even to someone coming from sun deprived always rainy and cold Rochester NY). On one of our remaining last days we drove to the east shore to hike and absolutely LOVED hiking here. It is unbelievably gorgeous and i guarantee it will take your breath away. The only problem is in the north shore we were only aware of one trail to hike and it was a pretty intense 2 day trail (which we didnt have the permits or gear to do). All the day hikes were on the east shore (that we could find, again we are tourists and really only looked for information from the kuaui guidebook, so there may be something we missed that locals know of). The problem with this is that its about an hour to the east shore trail heads which can be an annoying commute. Over all this place was fantastic. We ate on our balcony multiple times and drank up the gorgeous view of the mountains (you can even see a waterfall from the balcony). Breakfasts were unforgettable. Definitely would reccomend this place especially if you are looking to go to a lot of beaches (hidden ones and popular ones). If you have back problems and want to do mostly hiking i would recommend talking to the owners there may be different condos that have better mattresses or maybe they can find a way to accomodate you better. Also get a permit and gear for multiple day hikes
I highly recommend this property for anyone who is visiting Kauai. It was the perfect place. The price was right, the house was super clean and it was located on the best part of the island. I've been to Kauai 3 times now and this was by far the best place I rented. I really hope you consider renting this place on your trip....you won't be disappointed!
